LDF: Not just a dance company, but a dream come true

Dreaming Big

Almost everyone who knew me growing up, knew that I just wanted to be a dance teacher and open my own studio someday. Honestly, it was one of those dreams that I thought would never actually happen.

Well, fast foward sixteen years or so, and here I am, proving myself wrong. In the best way possible, with my best friend, McKenna.

This was one of those situations where the opportunity practically fell into my lap. Originally, a few dancers came to me and asked if I'd do choreo for their solo & maybe a duo/trio. Then the word got out and a few more dancers started asking me about it. So, I thought to myself, "ok, I'll just form a small company. This could be fun!" McKenna (Chen) was secretly pulled in to my grand plan with a text that said "Hey Chen, would you ever be interested in teaching ballet..? :)" I also managed to trick my sister, Shelby, into helping us in various ways...(Marketing Department/website designer/choreography manager/etc.) It takes a village, people!

We managed to turn the many ideas we had into what LDF is today. We went full speed ahead & never looked back.

Literally. Full speed ahead is no joke. We secured the most amazing studio space, small but practical, on June 6th. We got keys on June 12th & had our very first Technique Bootcamp scheduled for June 25th. So, with just about 2 weeks to prepare the space for dancers, we painted walls, put down a dance floor, and got mirrors installed, just in time.

Bootcamp was a huge hit & we're coming up on our final week of a 6 week technique series we held this summer. Not to mention, we just had our Open House & it was such a fun night mingling with our new dance family!

My face was sore the next day smiling so much. I cannot thank all of our dancers & supporters enough!  Thank you for trusting me & my vision.

2018, can you slow down?

This year has truly been a whirlwind. From getting married to my best friend on 12.31.2017, to worrying 24/7 about our house renovation, to starting up my own dance company---> I feel like I haven't had much time to breathe.. in the best way possible. (makes sense, right?)

Forming LDF has been a real journey full of ups and downs. But holy cow. I've never been happier & more excited for the future than I am right now.

Watch out world, the Force is coming!
